Car Driving Licence & Test Resources

This page contains information and links for licence and test booking, we have only listed official Gov and DVSA, DVLA resources.

Gaining your full UK car licence requires 2 tests, the first part is the theory test multiple choice and hazard perception,

The second part is the practical test accompanied by an examiner which consists of an eyesight check, show-me-tell-me safety questions, and about 40 minutes of driving to test your driving ability, including reversing the car and independent driving.

Provisional UK Driving licence

 

Before beginning your lessons, you will need a provisional UK driving licence, for a car licence the minimum age is 17, and you will need to provide a valid photograph or if you have a valid UK passport this can also be used.

If you do not have to access the online service, it is possible to apply by post, the D1 form is available from participating Post Offices.

credit or debit card for payment.

Your driving instructor's personal reference number; this can help in checking the instructors available on the day.

Change your Driving Test Appointment

This service can be used if you need to change the date of your driving test after booking.

 

This service can be used to:

 

Find an earlier date for your driving test if one is available.

Move your test to a later date than the original date.

Change the test centre for your driving test.

You must give at least 3 days' notice or fees will apply, full details can be found at the link below.

Theory Test Revision and Practice

 

There are many resources and ways to revise and practice for the car theory test.

 

The resources listed are all official but they do have fees attached:

The Official DVSA Theory Test kit app for Apple phones and tablets.

This option is a good price and is an app for your phone so it’s probably the most practical option.

The App can be purchased from either Apple apps or the Google Play Store.
